Roll Support Dryers

Roll support dryers may utilize driven or non-driven idlers rolls. Other options may include air nozzles on both sides of the web, web threader, non-slip roll coatings, and externally mounted bearings. Depending on the width of the web or other space constraints, the air delivery system may be housed within the drying enclosure or positioned in back of the enclosure and connected with insulated ductwork.

A two-zone arched dryer (60’ total length) for a 115” wide web of silicone release paper. Tendency-drive idlers are maintained with a single drive motor.

Non-driven idler rolls are often placed in an arch configuration with the air slot nozzles positioned over each idler roll. This serves to the increase web friction as it passes over the rolls.

A two-zone roll support dryer for the graphic arts industry using direct-drive idlers. Slot nozzles along the outside perimeter of the rolls may be retracted to vary the drying “power”.
